Hello Wildcats, Wildcat families, and future Wildcats,

I’m truly honored to join the Widewater Elementary School community as your new Principal. With 16 years of experience in education—from teaching third grade to serving as a reading specialist and assistant principal—I’m deeply committed to creating a warm, welcoming environment where every student feels valued and supported. My goal is to work hand-in-hand with families, staff, and students to nurture academic growth, kindness, and a sense of belonging for all. Having been recognized as Mentor Teacher of the Year, I understand the importance of collaboration and encouragement in helping both students and educators thrive. I look forward to getting to know the Widewater family and building a strong, caring community together. I earned my degrees from Bowdoin College, Cambridge College, and Walden University, and I’m excited to bring my passion and experience to this wonderful school.

Sincerely,

Dr. Alicia Gallaway

Dear Wildcat Students and Families,

I am excited to continue serving as the Assistant Principal at Widewater Elementary School. I have spent over 20 years in education, with the last nine years working within Stafford County Public Schools. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Special Education from Providence College and a Master of Education in Educational Media and Technology from Boston University.

Due to military relocations, I have had the opportunity to teach Pre-K through eighth grade in various schools across the country. I began my career as a special education teacher and later became a classroom teacher. In 2021, I obtained a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Supervision (K-12) from The College of William and Mary. This leadership degree provided me with additional skills to become a math specialist, where I supported and led teachers in implementing strong instructional practices based on school-wide data. This pivotal experience equipped me with the essential skills needed to become an assistant principal.

My family and I reside in Stafford.  My husband retired from the Coast Guard, but we felt strongly about staying in Stafford.  Stafford became home for our whole family. We have two boys; one who attends North Stafford High School, and the other is at Virginia Tech.

I look forward to continuing to build partnerships with the families at Widewater Elementary School. I am passionate about supporting the academic success and well-being of all students. Thank you for continuing to give me the opportunity to help guide your children in their social, emotional, and academic development.

We are going to have an incredible year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Meyers
